The Magic Order is already one of my favorite comics, and one of the best new series to come out this year, and apparently it hasn't even hit its stride yet. This week's issue is where we really start to get the story going. While the first couple of issues have been introducing us to this new world and new characters, this issue really dives into the main chunk of the story.
Madame Albany's plan to take down the Magic Order continues, and we get a little insight into her motivations. Unlike your standard "I want power" or "I want to take over the world," her motivations are much more relatable. She feels insulted, and wants to prove everyone wrong. This make her a much more interesting villain, as its something we can all relate to.
Speaking of interesting villains, let's touch on The Venetian, the mysterious character who is killing off wizards. I'm intrigued by this character, and I want to see who, or what, he is revealed to be. It struck me as odd that he seemed to have no problem killing others who seemed to be powerful and skilled wizards. There is some sort of powerful and dark magic that he utilizes, and I can't wait to see what that ends up being.
It's becoming clear that Gabriel Moonstone, the wizard who has left the world of magic, is going to play a critical role. We get to see a glimpse into his past, seeing the trauma that made him leave magic behind. I feel like we will see his sadness and heartbreak channeled in a way to defeat The Venetian.
