The LONG-awaited sequel to one of Pixar's greatest films, 2004's The Incredibles, has finally arrived and it's a fun reward for the 14-year LONG wait. I consider The Incredibles to be a solid A movie, one of Pixar's best, and one of the best superhero movies of all time. It is a beautiful story about the dynamics between the mundane and the super while highlighting the importance of family.
Incredibles 2 shines again thanks to Brad Bird's strong writing and directing: great character treatment, original action sequences, continued themes of family importance and superhero examination, and a fun visual/musical style that pays homage to the golden age of comic books and James Bond.
The movie does suffer from a little sequelitis when compared to the stellar first entry. The movie does drag a little bit in the second act due to the expositional and 'everyday family life' sequences not being as engaging as before. Most importantly however is the villain is quite weak with a light backstory/motivation and a predictable reveal.
However, the previously listed strengths far outweigh the flaws and the movie is still very fun. It was a joy to see these characters back in full form.
I'd give this movie a Fresnerd B+.
