As I read this issue, there was a movie scene that kept coming to mind. You know the scene toward the end of Dogma where Jay is going on a rant about everything going on? And he says, "What the fuck happened to that guy's head!?" That line just kept running over and over as I saw the over-the-top ways that Hit-Girl and Mano were taking the bad guys out.
I was constantly laughing (and feeling a little bad) as she took down lions and tigers and leopards (oh my!). Although it was in self-defense so totally justified.
Hit-Girl #2 continues the story of Hit-Girl and Mano going around Columbia taking out bad guys. As I said before, the deaths get more gruesome and more funny as each new scene arises.
Besides the crazy fights and associated humor, this issue really does push the story forward. There are some hints about who the mysterious benefactor is. There are some ominous vibes around Mano's little brother and his rise in the gang.
As a whole, this is a fun read. Even if you haven't read Hit-Girl #1 you can dive right into this one. And you really should. I was seriously laughing out loud while I was reading parts of this issue.
In addition to the story, there is some amazing art from Ricardo Lopez Ortiz. Even though Mark Millar is giving us the story, Ortiz puts the visual to the crazy situations that our hero finds her self in!
Do yourself a favor and go grab this issue this week!
