During San Diego Comic Con, I got the chance to sit in on the panel for the upcoming Syfy show "Krypton".
Geoff Johns hosted the panel, and you could tell he wanted to give away as many details as possible. While he did manage to hold back, we did get some pretty juicy details.
While we already knew the show would take place on the planet Krypton with Superman's grandfather, we found out that it's not as simple as a story in the past. Modern day characters from the DC Universe have gone back in time to try to eliminate Superman by disrupting his past.
In the show, Seg-El finds himself in a fallen House of El. He is trying to restore his family's dignity. We'll also see his love interest as Lyta Zod. Seems like a little bit of a Romeo & Juliet element with the forbidden love.
We'll see lots of other characters from the DC Universe including Brainiac and Doomsday. We'll also see Adam Strange and Hawkwoman.
One of the best parts of this panel was Cameron Cuffe, who plays the lead Seg-El. The guy is clearly a big comic fan, which is great to see. You know he's going to want to do justice the characters. There was a moment in the panel when a fan asked a question that ended up being very specific to a comic. Cameron jumped right in and answered the question, knowing who the author and artist from the comic was. Afterward Geoff Johns told everyone he was used to having to jump in and answer those types of questions.
I hadn't heard a lot about Krypton prior to this, but it looks pretty intriguing. I'm pretty excited to see what happens.
