Joss Whedon's 2006 Woman Woman script was recently made available online! For those interested in a fun movie script read, click HERE.
I am a big Whedon fan. He's one of my top favorite writer/directors. Unlike most people who first fell in love with him through his shows Buffy and/or Firefly, I first discovered his brilliance with his 2004 comic book run of The Astonishing X-Men (which is still my favorite comic book to this day). My fandom was solidified when I saw Serenity. Of course, most people know of him through the highly successful and fantastic Avengers film, which is arguably one of the best superhero films to date. His work is smart, funny, and deep.
So, to hear that his script for an unproduced Woman Woman movie was up for reading, I was instantly super excited.
This is such a fun movie that never was! I had such a great time reading this. I giggled or laughed out loud several times while enjoying a relaxing cup of tea on a sunny Sunday. The script oozes Whedon: quick witty humor, deep messages, feminism, and circular themes. As typical, he builds certain scenes up so well, that I could practically hear the epic soundtrack in the background.
What a wasted opportunity that this movie was never made. However, this just adds further fuel to the fire of my excitement to see what Whedon gives us with his upcoming movie for another strong female DC character: Batgirl. I can't wait!
Has anyone else read this script? What did you think? What are your thoughts on his upcoming Batgirl movie?
