Marvel released their teaser trailer for Thor: Ragnarok this morning. I'm going to assume you've already seen this, but if you haven't it's posted below. Give it a view. Actually, even if you've already seen it go ahead and watch it again. I'll wait.
OK, you're all caught up now? Let's dive into it!
When did Marvel realize that Chris Hemsworth was kind of funny? And that they could lighten Thor up a bit? The teasers they did with Thor on vacation with his new roommate Daryl were great. We got to see a different side of Thor, one who was a little more enjoyable. I love that we're seeing that in here. The timing as The Hulk comes out and he cheers, "We know each other! He's a friend from work!" was great.
"The Immigrant Song" was perfect for this trailer. Besides the obvious fact that it's theme is very Nordic, the pace and timing of the song works perfectly with this trailer.
What's up with Loki hanging out with the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum)? Something fishy is going on there. The tricky thing with Loki is we know he's conniving and you never really know which side he's on.
We still haven't seen Doctor Strange in any promos for Thor and I really hope we don't (spoilers if you haven't seen the post-credits on Doctor Strange yet). Let's leave something for us to experience when the movie actually comes out.
Cate Blanchett looks stunning as Hela. I love the tone it sets as she grabs Mjolnir out of the air and destroys it. There's our big sign that something is up.
That opening sequence though where Thor appears to be talking to the camera is kind of offputting. It felt very meme-ish. All it was missing was the record scratch before he started talking.
What did you all think? What did you love and what did you hate about this trailer?
