Top 10 Most Anticipated Movies For The Rest Of The 2017

2017 has already seen some solid movies (Logan, Get Out), and this weekend's releases have some big potential (Beauty and the Beast, The Belko Experiment).  This got us at The Fresnerd thinking about what the most anticipated movies for the rest of this year are.  We voted, and present to you our Top 10!

10. Blade Runner 2049 - The original Blade Runner is held by many to be the best sci fi movie of all time.  It's definitely one of the most influential.  Ridley Scott returns as producer and has secured one of the best directors today: Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Sicario, Prisoners).  Plus, with Harrison Ford back and Ryan Gosling also staring, our hopes are high!

9. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales - Is this the movie that gets the franchise back to being great?

8. Dunkirk - Christopher Nolan is one of the greatest modern directors with an amazing track record (The Dark Knight and Inception are in our top 10 favorite movies!).  We can't wait to see what mind and heart pounding film he has for us next!

7. Ghost in the Shell - The beloved anime comes to the big screen.  Can Scarlett Johansson carry this movie?  We at The Fresnerd are certainly hoping so!

6. Spider-Man Homecoming - It's nice to see some studios working together to get Marvel characters into the same movie.  Tom Holland looks to be a fun Spider-Man, and it won't hurt to have Robert Downey Jr. make an appearance as Iron Man.

5. Wonder Woman - This may be DC's last chance to really get their Justice League movies going in the right direction.  While Man of Steel, Batman V Superman, and Suicide Squad have all made money, none of them are exactly going down as classics in he world of comic book movies.

4. Thor: Ragnarok - While the stand-alone Thor movies haven't been amazing to this point, maybe adding The Hulk and Doctor Strange to the mix will give the kick it needs to get over the hump.

3. Alien: Covenant - That scene from the trailer with the Alien bashing its head into the window of that ship, in broad daylight, is all I needed to see.

2. Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 - Our top 2 were unanimous.  Guardians is one of my favorite movies of all time, and so far this looks like it will live up to its original.

1. Star Wars: The Last Jedi - How could this not be number one? A new Star Wars with Luke training Rey is enough to get us all excited!

Other movies receiving votes: Sword Art Online, Justice League, The Dark Tower, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, Prevenge (I had to add this one in, I just heard about this movie featuring a pregnant woman whose unborn child is telling her to kill people; how can this not be awesome? - Jaime)

Did we miss anything?  What else are you looking forward to this year?
