The second season of Stranger Things dropped two nights ago. Many people, including myself, have powered through all nine episodes, but a whole lot of people have not! So tonight I'm giving you a few thoughts and review points, but I'm keeping it spoiler free. If you want some spoilers, or you've already seen the second season, check out our spoiler-filled post at https://www.thefresnerd.com/home/2017/10/29/stranger-things-season-2-spoilers
Now let's get on with it!
This first point was also in my spoilers post, but it's safe! The cast continues to be amazing. I'll give special kudos to Noah Schnapp who plays Will Byers. We didn't get to see a whole lot of him in the first season, but he just slid right in and was a perfect fit with the rest of the cast. A special mention goes to Dacre Montgomery who played Billy. I seriously seriously hated this character, but I think that was the point. He nailed it.
The continuation from the first season was great. There was obviously some potential to ignore things or miss details, but the writers managed to link the two seasons brilliantly.
The opening scene to the season will make you scream.
As with the first season, the writers do a brilliant job of ending each episode on a great cliffhanger. Something that makes you yell at your TV and want to stay up way too late to watch just one more episode!
Going back to the casting, this is one of those shows with lots of kid actors that either lucked out or planned brilliantly. Like the Harry Potter series, the actors have managed to actually age a reasonable amount to be believable in the show. Admittedly it's only been a year, but we'll see how it goes if this show continues on for years.
Overall, I loved the mood set in the show. The lighting and the shots are great. The music continues to be amazing. The way the scenes are filmed are great.
There is a whole lot more I want to say, but I've spilled most of that in the spoilers post.
What did you think of the season? Please leave a comment, but keep it spoiler-free!
